DESCRIPTION FOR THE POSITION OF AFL EDUCATION DIRECTOR
L'Alliance Française de Louisville seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and autonomous individual for the position of Director. The position is full-time and includes benefits. The Director will report to the AFL Board of Directors and more specifically to the President and the Education Committee of the Board.
The duties of the AFL Director are three-fold:
1. Marketing/Development — It is the goal of the Board that the Director focuses on the overall growth, development, and financial stability of the organization. The successful Director will increase enrollment of the language center, generate new sources of tuition revenue through programs/partnerships with local corporations, schools, and other non-profit organizations. The Director will play an important role in all fund-raising efforts of the organization and in the implementation of cultural programs for AFL. Seeking funding through grants and increasing the visibility of l'Alliance Française within the Louisville community is a priority. In addition to the base salary, a year-end bonus will be paid to the Director for successfully reaching goals of increased enrollment and revenue.
2. Administration of the language center — The Director is responsible for the efficient overall administration of the AFL office, maintaining the AF facility in an organized and orderly manner, purchasing textbooks and general office supplies, handling incoming revenues from tuition, membership, and cultural activities, completing the monthly payroll, maintaining the database, working with the Finance Committee, responding to all incoming calls and mail, and presenting detailed reports to the Board at the monthly Board meetings. Knowledge of Excel and basic accounting procedures is a must.
3. Pedagogical — The Director is responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of teachers, the teaching assignments of the teachers, the development of the curriculum and course offerings, the selection of course materials, the scheduling of private lessons and the coordination of any other corporate or private tutoring programs. The Director is expected to create a friendly, welcoming, and stress-free environment for the learning of French. Our students should receive a quality language instruction program and students should have an efficient and easy registration process.
Flexibility to work both days and evenings is necessary. Knowledge of French and Francophone cultures is a plus.
