Course level: Intermediate


The purpose of this course is to encourage and facilitate 100% class participation in the discussion of a variety of materials. The two-hours class period will be roughly divided in two parts: A time of spontaneous exchanges on topics brought up by students followed by a time of discussion based on the material that will have been assigned and distributed in advance: Short stories in contemporary French literature, magazine articles on culture, social issues, headline news, plays and movies, poems, fables, songs, etc. French will be spoken throughout. There will be opportunities to correct, perfect and enrich knowledge of grammatical structures, verb tenses, vocabulary and cultural idioms. This course is for the student who lacks total fluency but desires to speak using what he/she already knows. Some explanations in English may occur but only upon request!
