 The Louis XVI Statue: a Louisville Landmark Louisville was named after King Louis XVI of France in gratitude for his support of American independence. Today his marble likeness stands in front of Metro Hall. This splendid Beaux Arts statue was a gift from Louisville's Sister City, Montpellier, France. It has become an emblem of civic pride, and a rallying point for Franco-American ties in the Metro Louisville area. |

Participation in this global network gives us access to cultural resources not ordinarily within reach of a local club. |
